Zeharkatzen / Crossing Limits
This exhibition explores, through the work of Pilar Soberón, the limits of physicality and materiality in architectural space. The body as a physical entity is an occupied and occupying body, but it also articulates between the limits of the intangible, the carnal, and the non-material, such as sound, light, and volume…
As an experimental proposal, an action called Bidalketa (in Basque “shipment”) was carried out with more than a hundred sculptures. These sculptures were replicas of sculptures located in the room, with which to interact and create a piece after receiving them back manipulated by the person who received the package. A round-trip journey of occupying and occupied bodies.
The exhibition addressed the concept through different techniques and artistic languages, and the objects exhibited were mere excuses to activate public participation as a key element to explore the meaning of existing (to do and to be part of). Thus, photographs, installations, video-creations, drawings, and sounds were merged, created not only to activate and provoke reactions in humans but also to explore the boundaries of the exhibition space as an experimental test tube for new forms of communication.
