DELIB NETWORK
Delib is an Iberian Network of organizations and individuals that promote and advance deliberative democracy.
It was created in 2023 and is a community of practice that encourages the incorporation of deliberative tools into the political system. To that end, it makes citizen assemblies visible and supports the organizations and individuals who promote, design, and implement them.
The network faced the challenge of communicating concepts that are still little known in a more visual and simple way. For this purpose, a very visual website was designed, placing at its center the representation of the eukaryotic cell discovered by the American biologist Lynn Margulis, whose discourse revolves around this discovery as a core of the power of collaboration against the prevailing Darwinian discourse of competitiveness.
Deliberativa is a non-profit association, founded in 2020 with the aim of strengthening democracy through citizen deliberation.
They carry out their activity by supporting governments and institutions of all political colors in the implementation and expansion of deliberative practices and their integration into the political system.
Notable is the important work they do with mini-publics (Panels, Juries, Citizen Assemblies, and Conventions) implemented at different levels of governance (municipal, regional, state, European, and global). They maintain in their foundational philosophy and activity a strong commitment to improving all institutional scales, promoting deliberative democracy both locally and globally.
The challenge arose when designing a new website more oriented precisely to their work, from the macro level (governments) to the micro level (individuals), working on clear and differentiating messages compared to other platforms or groups that develop consultancy at this level, and generating a friendly, fun image without losing seriousness.
A communication strategy was proposed based on the combination of headlines, expanded headlines, and illustrations, incorporating a section called MEDIATECA to collect existing resources on the subject, works carried out (their own and by others), and different types of content to disseminate the benefits of participatory democracy.
