Basurama 2x1

This exhibition by the Basurama Architects collective invites visitors to approach, interact with, and manipulate different objects, games, instruments, and other utensils, turning the exhibition spaces into centers of participation and engagement for audiences of all ages with waste and reuse. The exhibition is therefore playful and interactive, but also educational. In fact, visitors have DIY explanatory sheets in the form of instruction manuals to develop some of the pieces on display at home.

In addition to the accessible and playful content of the exhibition, there is also a more conceptual reflection on reuse and creation in chapters such as Imagen Remix or the Basurama Book, in which different collaborators have established research lines in a multidisciplinary way with waste as a common link.

The exhibition was accompanied by two site-specific activities carried out at the weekly market in the town’s public square to exchange garbage for free, Spermöla!, and to track the origin of waste, Desbasuramanet.

In addition, the opening event included the collaboration of chef Raul Pintxo from the restaurant Martin Berasategui, who cooked a series of mini appetizers using culinary waste such as fish bones, overripe fruit, peels, and other elements that are still edible.

An exhibition that talks about the goodness and virtues of things that are thrown away, at a time when we are not yet fully aware of the impact and footprint that our lack of awareness and sustainable consciousness leaves on our lives.
