Feminist Contemporary Art. Women who do things. I / II and III
The role of women artists in Art History and Art has been invisibilized, as in many other areas of knowledge.
Women Who Make Things is an ironic title from which to approach artistic production and its importance in the current feminist movement and thought. But above all, and through the course block under this title, it aims to create safe spaces of knowledge and exchange for and among women.
Feminist art (produced since the 1970s) addresses issues with which many women empathize from their daily reality, linking to the third wave of feminism and articulating an entire line of philosophical thought up to today.
It is not only important to know and recognize the rich legacy left and being left by women artists, but also to bring these contents closer to women who are less familiar with them, and to work on emotion, action, and reflection in many cases by visiting spaces they might not otherwise approach: museums and cultural institutions.
